New Moon lives up to expectations
Published Saturday November 28th, 2009

By now anyone who has been reading my column for awhile or who has even read a few articles here and there should know that I am a die-hard Twilight fan.
And, as many of you know, New Moon, the second book in the series, was just released to theatres as a film.
Back in September of this year, we were able to start pre-ordering New Moon movie tickets. My dad went online and bought me two; one for my friend Alisha and one for me.
It wasn't even the fact that I had New Moon tickets nearly two full months before the actual release date that I was mostly excited about; my father bought tickets for the 19th of November instead of the 20th.
In case you didn't know, the 19th of November was the day before the actual release date for the movie. That meant we would be one of the first to see the movie, even before it was officially released.
So, of course, last week I was beyond excited to see this movie.
Alisha and I set out to find plain white T-shirts and fabric markers to make our own specially-made New Moon-inspired shirts, even though I have several official New Moon T-shirts that we could have worn.
On the 19th, the movie was scheduled to start at 10 p.m. Alisha and I set out for the movie theatres about half an hour before the theatres even opened for the evening.
When the doors opened, we handed over our tickets and proceeded to wait behind a sign, where the line would soon form.
I knew I would be waiting at least five or six hours, so I brought along my own copy of the New Moon book to read while I waited.
We were first in line, which made me extremely happy, as I knew I would get amazing seats for this movie. Aside from reading my book, I talked to the two Twilight fans sitting next to us in line, who also got there really early.
As it got later in the evening, more and more fans arrived, until the line wrapped all the way around the theatres and the building.
Soon enough, they allowed us to move into the theatre where the movie would be playing. Alisha and I rushed in, and, as expected, we got to choose where we wanted to sit.
Needless to say, we got the perfect seats with a perfect view right in the middle.
You could feel the excitement in the air when the lights dimmed and the commercials started. We were all so excited to see Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and especially Taylor Lautner, the stars of the film.
I was very pleased with this movie.
I will admit that I found the Twilight movie was not a very well-made film likely due to a low budget. But New Moon definitely delivered. It satisfied me as a Twihard and I'm sure it would have satisfied anyone who hasn't read the books.
Because Eclipse, the third installment of the series, will be released as a movie in only a few short months, June 30 to be exact, they had to make sure New Moon's ending worked perfectly to set it up for Eclipse. I think they did a perfect job with that.
If you haven't read the book though, you're in for a sure cliff-hanger when you see New Moon.
Like I said, I think this movie is great. I can't wait until the lines die down a bit at the theatres so I can see it again and again. Maybe I'll see it as many times as I have read the books!
