Quick Look: Batman's latest Lambo

When he's not cruising around Gotham City after dark in the Batmobile, Bruce Wayne's ride of choice in the latest Batman film is the Lamborghini Murceilago LP640. The latest installment in the Batman movie franchise is called 'The Dark Knight', and it marks the return of the Lamborghini brand to the big screen.
The Murceilago LP640 is the sexiest, fastest Lamborghini to date- featuring a 640 horsepower V12-engine that enables top speeds of over 200 miles per hour. The engine employs variable valve timing on its intake and exhaust cams to maximize power and driveability, while peak power is delivered at a furious 8000 RPM.
Power is sent to all four wheels by a viscous-coupling all wheel drive system, and the entire process is overseen by a sophisticated traction control system. Gears shift with a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional 'e-gear' six-speed F1-style paddle-shift transmission.
The LP640's body is constructed from high-strength steel and carbon fibre, designed to be simultaneously very strong and very light. Bodywork consists of carbon-fibre paneling, further working towards this goal.
Stopping power is delivered by 8-piston, aluminum-alloy front calipers biting down on 380 millimeter brake rotors. Active aerodynamics help keep the car planted firmly to the road at speed, while motorized side-vents open to direct more cooling air into the engine compartment as required to keep things running cool. With 12 cylinders working at 8000 RPM, proper cooling is crucially important.
Hopefully Gotham city has plenty of gas stations, as the LP640's 100 liter fuel tank will yield a range of just over 300 kilometers during city driving.
"The Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 is the natural choice for Bruce Wayne's other car," stated Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. "Lamborghini is proud to be associated with one of the greatest movie franchises in history, especially co-starring with the night-bound Batmobile."
Batman enthusiasts will also remember the Murceilago Roadster's appearance as Bruce Wayne's ride of choice in 'Batman Begins' in 2005- after the Italian supercar builders marketing agency secured a deal to have the car's on-screen debut take place in the film.
The Dark Knight is in theatres now.
